Why check the battery health of a used Chinese EV before buying

The battery is the most expensive part of an electric car, and a visual inspection can't show its condition. An EV battery health report by VIN shows battery degradation, real range and hidden faults in minutes.

  • Battery state of health (SOH) and grade

See how much of its original capacity the battery has kept, with a clear S to D grade you can understand at a glance.

  • Real range vs rated range

Compare the current full-charge range in km with the original rated range, so there are no surprises on the road.

  • Battery value for price negotiation

An estimated battery market value gives you facts to negotiate the price of a used electric car.

  • Fast-charging history and charging habits

Fast-charge share, average start and end charge level and charge depth show how the previous owner treated the battery.

  • Cell consistency and fault detection

Voltage, temperature and internal resistance consistency reveal weak cells before they become an expensive repair.

  • Battery swap, maker and warranty check

Find out whether the battery was swapped, who manufactured it, its chemistry, and what warranty it carries.

How to read an EV battery health report

New to electric cars? These are the numbers that matter when you check a used EV battery.

Battery SOH (state of health)
The percentage of the battery's original capacity it still holds. As a rule of thumb, 90% or more is excellent, 80–90% is good for an older car, and below 80% is a reason to negotiate or ask about the warranty.
Battery degradation rate
How much capacity the battery has lost so far. Lower is better, and it should be read together with the car's age and mileage.
Fast-charging share
The share of charging done on DC fast chargers over the last 12 months. Frequent fast charging can wear a battery faster.
Charge depth and start/end charge level
Shows whether the car was often run nearly empty or always charged to the top. Moderate cycles are gentler on the battery.
Cell consistency (voltage, temperature, resistance)
How evenly the individual cells behave. Large gaps point to weak cells, which can shorten range and battery life.
Self-discharge score
How well the battery holds its charge while parked. A low score can indicate internal faults.

EV battery health check: frequently asked questions

How do I check the battery health of a Chinese EV by VIN?

Click Buy now, enter the 17-character VIN of the electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle at checkout, and pay once. Your battery health report opens right away. It includes state of health (SOH), battery grade, real range, charging habits and cell consistency scores.

What is battery SOH (state of health)?

SOH is the share of the battery's original capacity it still has. A 96% SOH means the battery has lost about 4% of its capacity. It is the single most useful number when buying a used EV.

What is a good battery health percentage for a used EV?

As a rule of thumb, 90% or more is excellent, 80–90% is good for an older car, and below 80% deserves a price discount or a closer look at the warranty. Age, mileage and charging habits matter too, so read the full report.

Which Chinese electric car brands can I check?

We support electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles from many Chinese brands. Coverage depends on whether battery data exists for your VIN. If we can't produce a report, you get a full refund.

Can I check a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) battery too?

Yes. The report works for plug-in hybrids as well as fully electric cars, and shows the power type of the vehicle.

What if there is no battery report for my VIN?

You get a full refund. You are not charged for a report we can't produce.

How accurate is the estimated battery value?

It is a market estimate based on the battery's condition and age. Use it as a negotiating reference when pricing a used EV, not as a fixed price.

Does the report show fast-charging history?

Yes. It shows the share of fast charging over the last 12 months, plus average start and end charge level and charge depth, so you can see how the car was charged.

How fast do I get the report and is my VIN private?

You get the report right after payment, and a copy is sent to your email. Your VIN and email are only used to produce and deliver your report.
